STOKU
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-03
Stoku is an offline-first Android app for managing household stock and shopping lists, published by Devalab. This policy explains exactly what data Stoku collects, why, and how you can control or delete it. Questions? Email hello@devalab.app.
1. The short version
- Stoku does not require an account. There is no sign-in, no email collection, no profile.
- Your stock items, shopping lists, and purchase history live only on your device (a local Room database). Stoku does not upload them.
- Stoku shows a banner ad via Google AdMob, which may collect a device-level advertising ID and similar identifiers per Google's ad policies.
- If you opt in to Android Auto Backup, your local database may be backed up to your own Google account — Stoku never sees that data.
- The Promo Catalog feature loads supermarket flyer pages from public Indonesian retailer websites; no personal information is sent.
2. What data Stoku stores on your device
| Data | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Stock items, categories, notes | Core app function — show what you have at home | On-device only — local Room database |
| Shopping lists | Build a trip from your stock + ad-hoc items | On-device only — local Room database |
| Purchase history (reports) | Review past trips, totals, and items bought | On-device only — local Room database |
| Settings (language, currency, "first run" flag) | Remember your preferences across launches | On-device SharedPreferences |
None of the above is uploaded to a Stoku server. There is no Stoku server.
3. Advertising — Google AdMob
Stoku displays a small banner advertisement provided by Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK) on the After-Shopping screen and the Promo Catalog screen. AdMob is the only third-party SDK in the app that receives data, and it does so only for the purpose of serving ads.
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect, per Google's policies:
- Your device's advertising ID (resettable from your Android device settings)
- General device information (model, OS version, language, coarse location derived from IP)
- Ad interaction events (impressions, clicks)
Stoku itself does not read or store any of these identifiers. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and, for advertising specifically, Google's advertising technologies notice. You can reset or disable your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
4. Optional Auto Backup (Android system feature)
Settings → "Aktifkan Sinkronisasi" toggles Android's built-in Auto Backup for Apps feature. When enabled, Android (not Stoku) periodically backs up Stoku's local database and preferences to your own Google Drive under your Google account, encrypted with your device PIN/pattern/password.
This is a device-level Google service. Stoku does not have access to those backups. To delete a backup, visit drive.google.com/drive/backups on the same Google account. To disable Auto Backup entirely, open Stoku Settings and turn off "Aktifkan Sinkronisasi", or disable it system-wide in Android Settings → System → Backup.
5. Promo Catalog network requests
The Promo Catalog feature loads publicly available flyer pages from Indonesian supermarket websites (e.g. Alfamart, Indomaret, Hypermart) using your device's normal internet connection. These requests contain only what your browser would normally send (user-agent, IP address) — no personal data, no Stoku-generated identifier, no item history.
6. Third-party services summary
| Service | Purpose | Their privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Banner ads on After-Shopping and Promo Catalog screens | policies.google.com/technologies/ads |
| Google Play services | Required for AdMob; provides advertising-ID API | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Android Auto Backup (optional) | Backs up your local data to your own Google Drive — only if you enable it | policies.google.com/privacy |
No analytics SDKs, no crash reporters with user identifiers, no social SDKs, no email/push providers.
7. Data sharing
Stoku does not sell or share your data with anyone. The only outbound data flow is to Google AdMob for ad delivery, as described above. The Share Shopping List action uses your device's standard Android share sheet — when you trigger it, Stoku hands the list text to whichever app you choose (e.g. WhatsApp). Stoku does not log or transmit those shares.
8. Data retention
All Stoku data lives on your device. Uninstalling the app removes everything Stoku stored locally. If you used Android Auto Backup, a copy may remain in your Google Drive backups — manage or delete those at drive.google.com/drive/backups.
9. Your rights and controls
- Edit or delete data — directly in the app at any time. Items, categories, shopping lists, and reports all support delete.
- Reset everything — uninstall the app. There is no Stoku server-side data to clean up.
- Reset advertising ID — Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → "Reset advertising ID".
- Opt out of personalised ads — Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalisation".
- Disable Auto Backup — Stoku Settings → toggle off "Aktifkan Sinkronisasi", or disable system-wide.
- Questions or complaints — email hello@devalab.app.
10. Children
Stoku is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Note that Stoku's banner ad is served by Google AdMob; ad tagging follows Google's family-policies guidance.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
